Elvish Yadav in trouble as National Commission for Women takes cognizance of his racist remarks against Chum Darang and issues summons
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken serious cognizance of the racist remarks made by YouTuber and influencer Elvish Yadav against actress and Bigg Boss 18 fame Chum Darang. The NCW has issued summons to Yadav, demanding his appearance on February 17.
The controversy erupted when Elvish Yadav stooped to a new low during his podcast, making derogatory comments about Chum Darang. He mocked her name and ethnicity, leaving everyone angry and shocked. Elvish also disparaged her association with the film Gangubai Kathiawadi, making inappropriate jokes about her.
“Karan Veer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai,” Elvish had said. These comments were met with outrage, as they not only belittled Chum Darang’s name but also insulted her professional achievements.
Chum Darang later responded strongly to the remarks, condemning Yadav’s behavior. In a statement, she highlighted the harm caused by such comments and expressed her disappointment. She emphasized that Yadav’s remarks crossed the line between humor and hate, adding that the insults targeted not just her ethnicity but also the hard work she has put into her career.
“Disrespecting someone’s identity and name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ It’s time we draw the line between humor and hate. What’s even more disappointing is that this wasn’t just about my ethnicity my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali were also disrespected,” she said.
This incident has reignited discussions on the boundaries of humor, racism, and the need for accountability in online spaces, with many supporting Chum Darang in her stance against such derogatory remarks.
