Versatile actor Arav Chowdharry shares his thoughts on performing powerful mythological characters. He says true acting is never an easy job, and especially, essaying mythological characters comes with even more responsibilities.
Actor Arav Chowdharry is well-known for portraying various challenging mythological TV shows. Currently, he is playing the role of Maharaja Dashrath in Srimad Ramayan and shared some interesting moments from the shoots. Know it here.
Arav shared a special story about one of the incidents that is so close to his heart. He starts narrating the moment; there is a scene where he needs to pull a rath, and it’s an integral part of the show. This actor said the entire sequence was shot for a whole day, so there are multiple takes of me pulling the rath that are not light by any chance.
Then, he explained the fun part, when I started to pull the rath, it was uphill, but as the shot progressed, I needed to stop the rath that was on a slightly downhill slope. He continued, so I mentioned this to my director, stopping the Rath on a downhill will be a little difficult. However, they said we’ve tried; it won’t be an issue as it's moving on a carpet, so it’ll stop.
Actor Arav continued, as the shot went on, I could sense that the rath was not stopping, so instead of cutting, I turned around and stopped the rath. And immediately, we went for the next shot.
Handsome actor Chowdharry says the scene was improvised upon as we shot, and none of us were prepared for it. In this situation, my presence of mind takes over, and it feels surreal as an actor and the kind of person I am. He expressed that I love moments and situations that challenge me.
